Cool to read [via Jane Dallaway] about Sussex geeks uniting over food and techie talk at the Sussex Geek Dinner. Not being a geek (compared to real geeks) it's not really my kind of gig, but it's comforting to know that intelligent passionate people - the people that actually make stuff happen! - in the area getting together and sharing knowledge.
There are very many of us in Brighton (our city), Sussex (our county) and the region who want to build on the concentration of geeks, digital media businesses and - hardest to find - investors too.
My thoughts on this topic have been helped by 'how to be silicon valley', an excellent essay by Paul Graham.
For those interested in nerdy get togethers, the other Sussex geeky stuff that I know of:
The BNM (Brighton New Media) mailing list
The Farm
Some of the Wired Sussex events
Brighton Linux User Group
