The first time I read about a 'treadputer' - cross between a treadmill and a computer - was via Fred Wilson's blog. A fellow VC (I think his name's brad feld) had created this incredible 'I'm doing business while I exercise' tool based around a treadmill. Too funny, and somehow impressive in the macho working sense.
But as more American bloggers are doing this I'm wondering is this really the solution?
It's 'a' solution - but isn't 'the' solution going outside?
Going for a REAL run?
In this example the notes show that the Minesota Wild park or something is outside - crazy idea: go for a run or walk around it.
I'm as desk bound as the next fattening keyboard pounder.
And I too am heading in the wrong direction.
But today in glorious sunshine I walked around Brighton beach for some fresh air and leg stretching. I'd hate to combine work and exercise. Excercise for me is about clearing my mind, about focussing on nothing (apart from the pain). I'd hate to be making business calls or sweating into a keyboard.
I'm not a reactionary, holed up in a mud hut wishing away technology (I'm a web consultancy FFS) but I do hope as a society we bounce back from these OTT incursions into our healthy real lives and remember to get outside and get free. Go for a walk. Now.

Too right! I'm a terrible one for exercise and I really struggle to get out and about at times, but I couldn't think of anything more insane than a "treadputer". Utterly baffling.
